This energy solutions company delivers renewable energy (heat and power in one system) using best-in-class solar technology.   This system delivers the highest efficiency in the world harvesting, 70% of the sun's energy that hit their generator (a typical flat panel system is 15% efficient).

This company provides significant ROI’s to commercial customers without relying on massive government subsidies. They are advancing the economics of solar power, moving it towards a true self-sustaining market. They are searching for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead the future development of these complex systems.

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing innovative solutions for new energy production modules, motion system component design and selection, material selection for application specific uses, selecting appropriate prototyping methods/means, experience based application of DFx for new designs, and project management/coordination activities.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for leading the mechanical development of new products
  • Takes a product design from concept to production.
  • Defines, generates and reviews project requirements.
  • Determines the technical feasibility of product redesigns for existing products.
  • Assists in the preparation of product cost information for products or projects.  Completes Financial and functional Analysis on existing product parts/sub-assemblies for cost savings opportunities.
  • Creates multiple approaches to complex problems and then applies engineering techniques such as Design for Six Sigma, FEA and others to optimize a solution.  Recognize when a viable solution should be implemented quickly with minimal analysis or qualification.
  • Specifies and qualifies mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
  • Presents information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, suppliers and vendors. 
  • Originates ideas for product and component features, modifications, and new products.
  • During the course of product redesign projects, establishes, updates and maintain product specifications, including all meaningful details pertinent to product manufacturability requirements, regulatory considerations, and marketing/sales considerations.
  • Assures functional acceptability through testing and analysis.
  • Prepares or oversees creation of drawings and documentation needed to define or update the product specification.
  • Establishes, maintains and prioritizes action plans and timelines for multiple projects. Monitors and takes appropriate action to achieve project objectives.
  • Performs competitive product (and intellectual property) analysis.
  • Leads technicians and engineers in the development, selection and use of test equipment for characterization of components and system level tests.
  • Solves technical problems employing solid scientific methods such as controlled experiments.
  • Designs mechatronic motion systems for industrial and semiconductor applications (is a plus).

Additional Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years of product development experience.
  • Prior successful leadership of engineering projects and/or cross-functional team(s) is desirable.
  • Experience in defining and developing future product families.
  • Working knowledge of advanced engineering design methods and principles.
  • Proficient in electronic packaging design using plastics, sheet metal, die castings, PWA’s, high performance interconnects and assembly methods.
  • Experience utilizing Six-Sigma design and DFMA methods.
  • Advanced knowledge in utilizing SolidWorks to develop electro-mechanical solutions.
